The problem list and how to clear it
The program corrects nothing by itself. It measures the artwork against your profile, shows the places the press will not hold, and waits for a decision.
Three categories
- Thin edges. Features narrower than the minimum line in your profile. The mesh will not hold them.
- Narrow gaps. Openings below the minimum gap. They fill in and merge into solid.
- Palette. Questions about the separation itself: a clash of angles, print order, a lineature the ink will not hold.
Tap an ink in the list and that ink’s trouble spots light up on the artwork itself. There is no hunting for them at 400 percent.
What clears them
- Expand. Grow the feature to the minimum width. It changes channel pixels, and the status line says how many.
- Widen gap. Pull the ink back until the opening reaches the minimum.
- Eraser. Removes whatever you drag over from the selected channel: hairlines, fragments, a speck the analysis never saw.
- Remove specks. Drops fragments smaller than the minimum line from every plate. A scan of flat artwork brings hundreds: paper grain, dust, the ragged inside of a letter.
The eraser works on the selected ink, so pick one in the list first. In the bitmap view it is switched off: a bitmap is output, and the channel is what you edit.
Every decision is reversible
Everything you apply goes into a list of decisions. Any entry can be undone, and the channels are then recomputed from nothing rather than painted back.
Cmd+Z covers the palette, the profile and the decisions alike. Removing specks comes back in one undo too, as a single batch.
There is also an informational class: things worth knowing that need nothing done about them. You can show or hide it.
When the export will not go
Some issues block the export, and you get "Export blocked by preflight". A thin line is not one of them: that stays your call.
What blocks are the ones that make the files unusable: two inks on the same angle, an empty plate, a size or resolution that has drifted from the document. Those are fixed in the profile or the palette, not with the eraser.
FAQ
Why does it not just fix everything?
+
Because every correction changes the drawing. Growing a line to the minimum makes it thicker than the designer drew it, and that belongs to the person who answers for the job.
There are hundreds of problems. Is that normal?
+
For a scan, yes. Try removing specks first: it clears the small fragments in one go and leaves what is actually worth looking at.
Can I export with warnings outstanding?
+
Yes, most of them block nothing. They stay in the report, so that six months later it is clear what was known at the time of output.
